“09er” Burger, with lettuce, tomato, onion, goat cheese, roasted red peppers & pesto aioli, and hand-cut fries.
For our last dinner in San Antonio, we decided to try out a recommendation from a friend. The Cove serves primarily organic, local and sustainable items on their menu.  And as a bonus, they have a playground to keep kids entertained!  In a bit of a role reversal, I had the burger and Troy opted for seafood tacos (one fish, one shrimp) with a spinach salad on the side.  Both dishes were delish, but I think his was slightly better. Next time I will try to overcome my aversion to cilantro. 😉

Cinnamon roll. Yes, singular. We took about 3/4 of it home.

Since we didn’t have the luxury of free breakfast at the hotel this morning, we decided to do a little Yelp search and settled on a diner that was a bit off the beaten path of tourist traps, but still within walking distance of our hotel. Mr. Tim’s Country Kitchen was nothing fancy to look at, but had great food and ENORMOUS portions. This was my chicken fried steak.

We also ordered the kiddo a single pancake, and here’s what arrived. Needless to say, it went largely unfinished.

Pork carnitas taco and carne asada taco, with guacamole, pico de gallo, and a side of pinto beans from Mi Tierra.

Just about everyone I asked told me I absolutely HAD to go to Mi Tierra while in San Antonio. It did not disappoint. The picture may not look like much, but these were two of the best tacos I’ve ever had. Nothing fancy, just meat in a (fresh) tortilla.
